Michael Moore, you SiCKO, take this!

I couldn’t resist writing about this topic because it’s a pet-peeve of mine.  Because I’m a blogger now, I can take license with my topics and meander a bit across borders–pun intended–topic borders, that is.  To me this is just another example of how American media will pander to the insurance lobbyists who line their pockets while stuffing the American people full of misinformation and a variety of misleading healthcare articles.  In this case, the misinformation being that the Canadian public health care system is in a shambles and that it’s not something  America should ever try to emulate because our sick people will be worse off then we currently are–not to mention our healthy people too.  This is brief so weigh in with your comments afterwards.  I’m wearing my sunglasses in case you throw stones at this controversial healthcare topic.  Careful now.  Peace, Megan

Americans have been fed a pack of lies about Canadian health care, said Stephen Lautens. I just got back from a trip to the U.S. South, and “it was an eye-opener.” Everyone was talking about the U.S. health-reform proposals, and the one thing they could all agree on was that they didn’t want to end up like Canada. Fox News and other conservative media outlets routinely claim that in Canada, the government assigns you a doctor and that you have to wait months for an appointment and years for vital, life-saving surgery.

When I told them that we pick our own doctors, see them virtually whenever we wish, and pay nothing for the privilege, “their jaws dropped.” When I further explained that a “wildly popular Fox News story” about Canada’s “hospital death committees”—which supposedly pull the plug on old people to save money—was a complete fabrication, I had their rapt attention. “A small crowd gathered around me at the bar to hear the Canadian tell his magical tale of health-care coverage.” One uninsured American then told me about a $15,000 MRI she was slowly paying off, while those with insurance complained of being unable to afford the medicines their doctors had prescribed.

“When I left that crowd, they were thinking that, even if it’s not perfect, Canada is a pretty good country.”

The major problem with the healthcare reform bill is this:
we dont get to vote for it.

This is America. Land of the free. Why does our government get to decided that we have to have their insurace? I don’t want their insurance I want my insurance. We are a capitalist country where competition is the backbone of our economy. Its not perfect, but its better then having no choice. I don’t want ANY of my choices taken away from me.
